A very large map depicting the Rhine between Kleve and Strasbourg, Germany. Embellished with a large title-cartouche and a cartouche with scales.
Made by an anonymous engraver after Alexis-Hubert Jaillot.
Medium: engraving / etching with contemporary hand colouring on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 58 x 90 cm (22.83 x 35.43 inch). Image size: 56.5 x 82.5 cm. (22.24 x 32.48 inch).
Condition: fair, given age. Some imperfections, several crinkles/creases, slight paper loss left side, remargined, some browning of paper, edges with an occasional tiny tear. Two sheets joined together as issued. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Published in Paris, dated 1692. Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Alexis Hubert Jaillot’ after an anonymous artist. .
Biography engraver: Alexis-Hubert Jaillot (1632-1712), was a French cartographer. He joined the Sanson heirs and redrew Nicolas Sanson’s maps on a larger scale.
