This print shows a handcoloured map, bird eye vieuw, of Gelria, Geldern in Germany. We see all the different houses and buildings like churches. Often in its history, Geldern lay in the battlefield of territorial disputes. It was subordinate to Spanish rule from 1543 until 1578, when it was occupied by the Dutch. By treason Geldern returned to Spanish control in 1587.
