Three maps on one sheet. Upper part, it shows the coast of Barbaria from Morocco to Egypt: the map on the left corner of Tunis includes a plan of Goletiae, and the right corner shows the coasts from Alexandria to Damiata with the Nile Delta. Latin text on verso.

Condition: fair, given age. Paper browned and light staining. Seperated at middle fold joined together by acid free paper. Damp-stained bottom margin and part of image. Irregular edges with some small tears, not affecting image.. Original fold as issued. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Original antique map by Henricus Hondius, published ca. 1630. .
Biography engraver: Jodocus Hondius born 1563 in Ghent (Flanders) and grown up there. He became a globe maker and map engraver. In 1593 set up his business in Amsterdam after he spent some years in London. He was one of the most important engravers of his time and engraved maps for van den Keere, Waghenaer or Speed. Hondius bought the plates of Mercator in 1604, added around 40 maps and published the Atlas first 1606 still under Mercators name. After his death 1612 in Amsterdam, the business was carried out by his sons Jodocus II and Henricus (1597-1651).
