Medium: Pen and ink with brown and black wash, heightened with watercolour on wove (vellin) paper.

Condition: very good, given age. Light creasing along top edge, minor foxing at top margin, ink and wash bright and well preserved. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Created for the Algemeene Nationale Tentoonstelling van Nijverheid te Haarlem (1861).

Biography engraver: Pieter van Looij (1823-1885) was a Dutch draughtsman and lithographer active mainly in Haarlem and later Amsterdam. His works reflect a high level of skill in ornamental and topographical illustration, and he was closely associated with national and regional exhibitions in the Netherlands during the mid-19th century.
