Made by Charles Jacque. Charles-Emile Jacque (Paris 1813-1894) was a very well respected French painter, sculptor and engraver / etcher of mostly landscapes and animals. He was trained as cartographic engraver in the army. Later he developed a very free style in etching. He is considered one of the more interesting 19th. c. French artists, part of the Barbizon school.
