Pl. 6: ‘Snijdsels van Houten, Rieten en Biezen.’ (Cuts of wood, reeds and rushes.) This decorative plate shows 12 cross sections of different sorts of wood, reeds and rushes. This old antique engraved copperplate print originates from ‘Katechismus der Natuur’ published in 1779 in amsterdam by J. Allart. This popular work was used in schools in The Netherlands until the 20th century.Artists and Engravers: Johannes Florentius Martinet (1729 – 1795), Dutch historian, writer, theologian.
