Handcoloured lithographed anatomical plate showing “de zwangere baarmoeder eerst in hare natuurlijke ligging, dan uit het ligchaam weggenomen, met hare spiervezelen en bloedvaten, benevens het menschelijk ei in het eerste tijdperk van deszelfs ontwikkeling” (a pregnant uterus in normal state, pregnant uterus outside of the body – showing veins and muscle tissue – ) and the human ovum). Plate III, vol. 1, from: “Magazijn van ontleedkunde, of volledige verzameling van ontleedkundige afbeeldingen van het menschelijk ligchaam” (Amsterdam, C.G. Sulpke, [1839]). These plates are lithographed after drawings by the foremost physicians of the time, such as Rosenmuller, Loder, Karel Bell, Gordon & Bock. This, first, Dutch translation, was prepared and edited by S.J. Galama.Artists and Engravers: Lithographed by: A.J. Backer (Dordrecht). Printed by: G. Ypma (Franeker).

Condition: Excellent given age, minimal age-related toning. Small repaired tear to the top margin. Please study scan closely.
