Stipple engraving on hand laid (verge type) paper. Watermark: van Gelder en Zonen.

Made by Benjamin Smith after Reverend William Peters. Benjamin Smith (1754–1833) was a British engraver, printseller and publisher from London, active from 1786 to 1833. He worked mainly in dot or stipple engraving, producing portraits, illustrations, and allegorical and biblical subjects after prominent artists of the day.

Condition: Good, given age. Trimmes at or within plate marks. Small at girl’s face, backed and barely visible. A few small tears in paper edges. A few light paper spots. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
