Biography engraver: Denis-Auguste-Marie Raffet (1804–1860) was a French lithographer, illustrator, and painter, renowned for his vivid and dynamic lithographs. A student of Charlet, Raffet became one of the most important illustrators of the July Monarchy, contributing extensively to political and satirical journals such as La Caricature. His works often depict military scenes, social commentary, and political critique with strong expressive power.
