Medium: Engraving on hand laid (verge) paper.

Sheet size: 50.5 x 43.5 cm (19.88 x 17.13 inch). Image size: 47 x 41 cm. (18.5 x 16.14 inch).

Condition: good, given age. Light foxing, creasing, and soiling. Vertical folding mark visible in the middle. Ghosting from from framing/matting. Tears at top middle, bottm left and top left. Remains of paper on rear from attachment. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Biography engraver: S. Sluijterman van der Meer was an engraver working in the second half of the 18th century, known as a publisher and partly responsible for a number of political prints in the patriot era.

Biography artist: Noach van der Meer Jr. (1741-1822) was a Dutch artist and stage decorator. He drew and designed various political prints and cityscapes, often in collaboration with his family members.
