Medium: Etching and engraving on hand laid (verge) paper.

Condition: very good, given age. Light foxing, creasing and soiling. Trimmed to the plate. Worm hole and thin paper at the putti on top, not vary visible. Right middle margan wit paper loss, remargined. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

After a painting by J.B.M. Pierre; engraved and published in France, late 18th century.

Biography engraver: Louis-Simon Lempereur (1728-1807) was a French engraver known for reproductive engravings after major French painters. Active in Paris and renowned for his precise and elegant line work.

Biography artist: Jean-Baptiste-Marie Pierre (1713-1789) was a French painter and engraver, premier peintre du roi under Louis XV and Louis XVI. Known for mythological and classical scenes in Rococo and Neoclassical styles.
