BACKGROUND INFORMATION

From ‘Il Museo Pio-Clementino’, Rome, 1784.

Biography engraver: Alessandro Mochetti (1760-1812) was an Italian engraver from Rome, active in the late 18th century. Known for precise architectural and archaeological engravings, he contributed to major works such as the Museo Pio Clementino.

Biography artist: Vincenzo Dolcibene (c. 1746-1820) was an Italian painter, draughtsman, and printmaker, known for archaeological drawings used in scholarly publications such as Il Museo Pio Clementino.
