BACKGROUND INFORMATION
From ‘Il Museo Pio-Clementino’, Rome, 1784.
Biography engraver: Giuseppe Parini (1729-1799) was an Italian poet, satirist, and neoclassical intellectual. Best known for his poem Il Giorno, Parini also worked as an engraver and held several academic and civic positions in Milan, contributing engravings to scientific and classical publications.
Biography artist: Vincenzo Dolcibene (c. 1746-1820) was an Italian painter, draughtsman, and printmaker, known for archaeological drawings used in scholarly publications such as Il Museo Pio Clementino.
