BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Published in Collection d’imitations de dessins d’apres les principaux maitres hollandais et flamands, London 1821, by Christiaan Josi. Verso bears the coat of arms of Cornelis Ploos van Amstel.

Biography engraver: Christiaan Josi (1768-1828) was born in the Netherlands, but travelled to England. He became a famous artdealer and published many prints in the manner of Ploos van Amstel. Josi eventually bought the entire contents of the workshop of Ploos and republished what was left together with new printdrawings. .
Biography artist: Adriaen Hendriksz. Verboom (c.1627-c.1670) was a Dutch landscape painter and draughtsman associated with the Haarlem school. His work often depicts richly wooded scenes and rural cottages.
