Biography engraver: Hans Springinklee (c. 1490?c. 1540), German painter, draughtsman and prolific woodcut designer, active in Nuremberg. A pupil of Albrecht Durer, he is known for his contributions to illustrated books printed by Hieronymus Holtzel and Anton Koberger, specializing in biblical, hagiographic and historical subjects.
