Condition: very good, given age. Light foxing, light creasing. Trimmed to image. Edges bached on rear. Light paper spots in bottom corners. Very well-inked impression with rich contrast. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Biography engraver: Jean Audran (1667?1756) was a prominent French engraver from Lyon, part of the Audran family of artists. He was received into the Acad?mie Royale in 1708, for which this portrait was made. Known for his fine portrait engravings of royal and academic figures.
Biography artist: Hyacinthe Rigaud (1659?1743) was a leading French Baroque painter best known for his formal portraits of Louis XIV and members of the French aristocracy and academy. He painted many notable figures of his time.
