BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Engraved by Jean-Baptiste Masse for his reception into the Academie Royale, 1717.

Biography engraver: Jean-Baptiste Masse (1687?1767) was a French engraver and miniaturist. He engraved a number of portraits and was received into the Academie Royale in 1717 with this engraved portrait of Coypel.
Biography artist: Antoine Coypel (1661?1722) was a French painter, son of Noel Coypel, and became Premier Peintre du Roi and director of the Acad?mie Royale. He was known for his grand decorative paintings and portraits.
