(‘Before work’), a stable with several horses, some chickens and a dog. A farmer, his wife, and their son are busy tending to the horses before they are put to work at the plough.

Biography engraver: Willem Steelink (1826-1913) was a Dutch engraver, etcher and painter. He specialised in portraits of famous Amsterdam people, and views of Amsterdam. Wouterus Verschuur (1812-1874) was a Dutch painter.
