From a rare series of 31 prints based on the Psyche story in Apuleis’ novel Metamorphoses, or the Golden Fleece. One of the masterpieces of the High Renaissance painter Raphael is the ‘Loggia of Psyche’ in Villa Farnesina, owned by Agostini Chigo, a wealthy Sienese banker and finance minister to Pope Leo X.

Plate 30 from the 31 plate series ‘La favola de Psiche’ (The fable of Psyche). State: 1st State before the address of the publisher Antonia Salamanca.

Made by Master of the Die after Raphael Sanzio. Engraver: Master of the Die / Bernardo Daddi (Italian c. 1512-1570). Raphael Sanzio di Urbino (1483-1520).

Condition: Good, given age. Trimmed to image. Top corners with some paper loss, backed. Bottom right corner backed. Nice impression. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
