By Giovanni Merlo after Raphael Sadeler after Maerten de Vos. Copy in reverse after plate 27 from a series: ‘Sylvae sacrae monumenta anachoretarum’ published c. 1590 (Hollstein 994-1023).

Giovanni Merlo was an Italian 17th. c. engraver and publisher from Venice, particularly known from his monumental panoramic view of Venice made in 1656.

Condition: Very good, given age. Remains of previous attachment at top. Small tear at top, not effecting image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
