Antique print, titled: ‘Thunis.’ – This print shows a view on Tunis in Tunesia. A curious edition of this print. We have not been able to find which publication these occur in. They are, however, based on earlier examples of the same view. This appears to be a sort of reduced pirated version of prints published be others. With a decorative border added. This print is based on large parts of a print from Olfert Dapper’s “Naukeurige Beschrijvinghe Der Afrikaensche …”, published by Jacob van Meurs in 1666. We have not been able to find any reference to this exact series of prints. Probably very scarse.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Anonymous’ after ‘Olfert Dapper’.

Condition: Excellent, given age. Text on rear. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
