This print is depicting a Heroic stormy landscape. A tree has been broken, struck by lightning. People, some half naked trying to escape. We see a memorial stone or grave and pillars laying about. A village and bridge can be seen in the background.

This attractive print was published in 1724

Made by ‘Elisha Kirkall’ after ‘Jan van Huysum’. Elisha Kirkall (c.1682-1742) was a reknown English engraver from Sheffield, active in London, noted for many experiments in printmaking techniques. Jan van Huysum (1682-1749) was a Dutch painter, particularly of flower pieces.

Condition: Good, given age. Partially hand coloured. Overall soiling, particularly in margins. Paper separation at left plate marks, backed by paper. Some creasing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
