Medium: Etching on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 15.4 x 19.1 cm (6.06 x 7.52 inch). Image size: 12 x 14.7 cm. (4.72 x 5.79 inch).
Condition: good, given age. The print itself appears to be on aged paper, with some foxing and discoloration consistent with its age. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Based on the original found in the collection of a so-called Hr. Dr. Prof. A. Lips.
Biography engraver: Philipp Hoffmeister (1804-1874) was a German preacher from Eiterhagem in Germany. He was also an amateur drafsman and print maker, known to have made portraits drawings. He was the brother of the collector and art writer Jacob.
Biography artist: Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (1606-1669), usually simply known as Rembrandt, was a Dutch Golden Age painter, printmaker, and draughtsman. An innovative and prolific master in three media, he is generally considered one of the greatest visual artists in the history of art. It is estimated Rembrandt produced a total of about three hundred paintings, three hundred etchings, and two thousand drawings.
