Made by ‘Luca Chiamberlano’ after ‘Pietro da Cortona’. Made by ?Luca Ciamberlano? after ?Pietro Berretini da Cortona?. Luca Ciamberlano (1580-1641) was an Italian painter and engraver, born at Urbino. In the early part of his life he applied himself to the study of civil law. He then abandoned the study of jurisprudence to devote himself to painting and engraving, particularly the latter. He became the leading graphic artist of his day. Pietro da Cortona (1596-1669, born Berretini) was a leading Italian Baroque painter and one of the key figures in the development of Roman Baroque architecture.
Condition: Very good, given age. This plate seems be purposely made with greyish plate tone to serve as a cover for the series. Some creasing and a few small tears and paper loss in top paper edge. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
