Subject: Antique print, titled: ”Cornelis en Johan de Wit (…).” – This important and very rare original antique pamphlet / broadsheet shows the portraits of Cornelis and Johan de Wit. Between the two portaits a view of the ”Buitenhof” in Den Haag / The Hague, The Netherlands. This document deals with the defence of the De Wit brothers in their highly politically motivated persecution. They were then brutally murdered / executed. Below several poems in the Dutch language. This leaf was published individually, to be spread much like a newpaper. We cannot find it offered anywhere online.
Condition: Good, given age. Some folds and creases. Folds with a few small holes. Irregular edges as published with a few small tears. Horizontal tear in middle, backed. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Copperplate engraving and etching. on hand laid (verge) paper.
