Antique print, titled: ‘Quid libet a quovis.’ – (Transl.: What do you want from each one.) The parts of a breastplate, with matching shield. Both are adorned with a crusader cross. A cross rests inside the breastplate. From: “Scala Salutis E Solidis Veritatibus Constructa”, by Julien Hayneuve, Michael Cuvelier, published in Cologne by Iodocum Kalcovium / Jost Kalckhoven, 1650. Of this book three Latin editions were published in 1650, probably translated from the French ed. “Meditations pour le temps des exercises.” and it contains 24 emblems and an engraved title page. Rare. Ref: Backer-Sommervogel T.II col. 1752 n.7.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Authors: Haineuve and Cuvelier’ after an anonymous artist. Engraver unknown. Authors: Julien Haineuve (1588-1663) and Michel Cuvelier.
Condition: Good, given age. Little paper loss in left margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
