Original etching/engraving on a verge type handlaid paper. on paper.

Original print, number 41, titled: De Lombert. The Stadsbank van Lening in Amsterdam, a pawnbroker’s house where loans were offered with personal property as collateral. Maison Lombards. This original print is from the rare topographical work ‘Amsterdam met der zelver Voornaamste Gebouwen / D’Amsterdam et deses Principaux Bastimens’ published ca. 1665. This work contains a total of one plan and 70 prints depicting the most famous buildings of Amsterdam (many of which are still extant). The prints are engraved after J. Veenhuisen en S. Webbers. Ref: Nijhoff-van Hattum 104, note. cf. Hollstein Veenhuijsen 3-71.Artists and Engravers: Jan Veenhuysen (ca. 1625-1693) was a Dutch printmaker. He is mainly known for the many views he made of Amsterdam, and his portraits. S. Webbers is possibly Sacharias Webber (Amsterdam 1644-1696) is an artist/engraver. He was a student of Gerard de Lairesse. His father was a bookseller/publisher.

Condition: Good. Sheet browned, small wormholes in the top right corner margin, and one in the top right of the image. Left edge minimally uneven from binding. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
