BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Original early work by Swiss artist Johann Jakob Rietmann.
Biography engraver: Johann Jakob Rietmann (1808-1868) was a Swiss landscape painter, draftsman, and engraver from St. Gallen. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, he was known for his detailed topographical views. Rietmann created over 200 views of St. Gallen and Eastern Switzerland between 1830 and 1868, providing a valuable documentary record of his era.
