Rare print showing a stage coach / float with various dressed up figures including pierrot, doctor, a devil and a market woman.

Made by Aaron Martinet after own design.

Medium: Line etching with original hand colouring. on wove (vellin type) paper.

Sheet size: 40 x 32.5 cm (15.75 x 12.8 inch). Image size: 31.5 x 26.5 cm. (12.4 x 10.43 inch).

Condition: very good, given age. Light foxing. Original vertical fold as published. Remains of tape on rear from matting. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

According to BM published c. 1805-1818.

Biography engraver: Publisher: Aaron Martinet (1762-1841), a print publisher in Paris, son of Nicolas Martinet, with whon het worked on botanical publications. Firm was established in 1796 and later became Hautecoeur-Martinet in 1822. He became famous for his many satirical prints / caricatures.
