Biography engraver: Egbert van Panderen (c.1581-1628) was a Dutch engraver active in the early seventeenth century. He is known for translating complex Mannerist compositions into finely detailed engravings, often after designs by leading court artists such as Bartholomeus Spranger.
Biography artist: Bartholomeus Spranger (1546-1611) was a Flemish painter associated with the Northern Mannerist movement. Active at the imperial court of Rudolf II in Prague, he created highly sophisticated mythological compositions characterized by elegant figures and dynamic poses. His designs were widely disseminated through engravings by artists such as Egbert van Panderen.
