A printdrawing is a work of art made to simulate a drawing, using a combination of graphical techniques including roulette, mezzotint, crayon / stipple engraving, etching and aquatint etching. Ref: Made in 1772, published in 1774. State: Fourth state of 4. Ref: LNP 22. signed in pencil on the back

Made by ‘Cornelis Ploos van Amstel & Bernard Schreuder’ after ‘Karel Mander’. Cornelis Ploos van Amstel (1726-1798) was active as merchant in Amsterdam. He was an avid collector of art and invented a method of making prints after drawings from his own collection. Bernard Schreuder (+1778) worked for while in collaboration with C. Ploos van Amstel. After an argument he started for himself, making printdrawings. Karel van Mander (also Carel, 1548-1606) was a Flemish painter and author on painting.

Condition: Good, given age. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
