Untitled print. It shows: view of the side of a Swiss city castle with a statue of a male figure. We appreciate any input. Separately published etching, from the Luzern period (1910-1919).Artists and Engravers: Etched by Oskar Paul Matthes (Kaliningrad 1872 – Bergholz 1956), a German-born autodidact artist. He started his career in Cologne around 1887-1901. He spent numerous years in the Netherlands (Zaandam, Edam and Leiden) before moving to Luzern in 1910. He later repatriated to Potsdam (Germany) and Bergholz-Rehbrucke (where he would die in 1956). He was a painter, draughtsman, etcher and lithographer of mainly city and village views.
Condition: Excellent, given age. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
