Edgard Wiethase (1881-1965) was a Belgian painter from Antwerp. He studied at the academy in Antwerp under C. Boom, C. Mertens and P. Verhaert and completed his studies at the Nationaal Hoger Instituut voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerp. His subjects vary wirdely from stillives to horses, genre scenes and figures. His palet is bright and particularly in his later work luministic. For long he lived and worked in Antwerp, where he was a member of the art society ‘Als ik Kan’. In his active period his work was regularly exposed on Antwerp, Brussels and Gent.
