Original print, untitled. Prospero (depicted as a bishop-like figure) in conversation with Ariel (depicted as an angel). William Shakespeare’s ‘The tempest’. This work was originally published as a set of fifty black-and-white zincographs (lithography on zinc plates), of which 31 were full-page plates, published in 1975 by Sauret of Monte Carlo, in a limited edition of 250+20 copies. The current edition features these plates, but in a hand coloured state. The title bears the imprint of S.P.A.D.E.M. of Paris, (Societe de la Propriete Artistique et des Dessins et Modeles.) but no date. Ref: Mourlot 846-895. Signed with a rubber stamp reproduction of Chagall’s signature on each sheet. Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Marc Chagall’ after own design.

Condition: Very good, given age. Margins faintly thumbed. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
