Antique print, titled: ”De Wester-Kerk van binnen, naar ”t oosten, te zien.” – (Western Church.) Interior view towards the east of the Westerkerk in Amsterdam. From: the second edition (first 1693) of ‘Beschryvinge van Amsterdam….’, 1726, one of the best 17th. century descriptions of Amsterdam, based on the works of Dapper and van Domselaar and on materials furnished by the author’s father Isaac Commelin. Casparus Commelin had access to the archives of the city and thus considered more reliable than Dapper/Domselaar.Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after ‘Casparus Commelin’. Author: Casparus Commelin (1636-1693), publisher and bookseller in Amsterdam.
Condition: Very good, given age. Short left margin, not effecting image. Some light staining. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
