BACKGROUND INFORMATION

This original antique frontispiece was published in the second volume of Jacob Cats “S Werelts Begin, Midden, Eynde”, The Netherlands 1637.

Biography engraver: Crispijn van Queborn (1604-1652), Dutch painter/draughtsman; publisher/printer; printmaker.

Biography artist: Adriaen van der Venne (1589-1662) was a versatile Dutch Golden Age painter of allegories, genre subjects, and portraits, as well as a miniaturist, book illustrator, designer of political satires, and versifier.
