BACKGROUND INFORMATION
From ‘Thooneel der Steden ende Sterckten van ‘t Vereenight Nederlandt met d’aengrensende Plaetsen soo in Brabandt Vlaenderen als anden Rhijn en elders verovert door de Waepenen der Groot-moghende Heeren Staeten onder het gheley vande seer Edele Hooghghebore Princen van Oranien’, Antwerpen, 1680.
Biography engraver: Gaspar Bouttats (1625-1695) was a Flemish engraver from Antwerp, mostly working for book publishers.
Biography artist: Ioan / Jan I Peeters (1624-1677) was a Flemish painter of marine scenes. Later he also became an art dealer. He was a student of his brothers Bonaventura and Gilles. His students include his children Jan Frans and Isabelle and Adriaen van Bloemen.
