Newspaper insert from Tokyo Nichi Nichi Shinbun, issue no. 723. Published by Gusokuya Kahei, a Tokyo-based publisher active in the Meiji era, producing nishikie prints and collaborating with newspapers such as the Tokyo Nichinichi Shinbun.

Biography engraver: Ikkeisai Yoshiiku (1833?1904), born Ogata Yoshiiku, was a leading Meiji-era woodblock artist and illustrator. Known for satirical and sensational prints, he collaborated with newspapers to produce nishikie shinbun (illustrated news prints) depicting shocking events to boost sales.
