Original crayon style lithographs on a vellin type paper. The different tones are printed from seperate lithographic stones. on paper.
Size in cm: The overall size is ca. 17 x 26 cm. The image size is ca. 12 x 19 cm. Size in inch: The overall size is ca. 6.7 x 10.2 inch. The image size is ca. 4.7 x 7.5 inch.
Title Page showing banners and images of Arabs and Crusaders. This attractive original old antique print / plate originates from: ‘Terre Sainte ou Le livre d’Or des familles.’, by J.A. Luthereau, Bruxelles 1847. This work contains lithographs after the designs of the reknown David Roberts.Artists and Engravers: The designer of the plates in this work is the reknown David Roberts (1796-1864) a Scottish painter. He is especially known for a great series of detailed prints of Egypt and the Near East that he produced during the 1840s from sketches he made during long tours of the region (1838-1840). This work, and his large oil paintings of similar subjects, made him a prominent Orientalist painter. He was elected as a Royal Academician in 1841. We do not know the exact lithographer of these plates.
Condition: Fine. General age related toning and occasional light staining from handling as visible on image.
