Etching and engraving on hand laid (verge type) paper. Watermark: fragment coat of arms.
Sheet size: 17,3 x 21,8 cm. (6,8 x 8,6 inch). Image size: 14,2 x 18,5 cm. (5,6 x 7,3 inch).

From: ‘Spiegel om wel te sterven […]’, by David dela Vigne, second ed., published in Amsterdam by Johannes Stichter, 1694. First published in 1673. With the plates by Romeyn de Hooghe. (Transl.: ‘Reflection / mirror for dying correctlty …), which show a man preparing for death accompanied by an emblem in the background relating to Christ’s Passion. Condition: Good, given age. Plate in fine condition. Paper margins with soiling and some staining from handling. Tear in top right margin, backed. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
