The child restored. – This print shows a child embrased by his mother after being stolen by Gypsy’s, The father and some women are looking concerned. One woman with a child hanging on her legs and another on her back is wiping tears. A man in the back has his hands folded as if he is praying. This engraving is one of a pair called “Gipsey’s stealing a child”.

Sheet size: 63 x 50 cm. (24,8 x 19,7 inch). Image size: 57,5 x 45 cm. (22,6 x 17,7 inch).

Source unknown, to be determined.

Made by ‘F. Green’ after ‘Henry Singleton’. Henry Singleton (1766-1839) was an English painter, born into an artistic family in London. He was mainly known for his portraits.

Condition: good, given age. Several small worm holes in bottom left area. A few damaged spots at top left middle. Top right corner slightly damaged, backed. Some backed reairs at left and bottom margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
