Antique print, titled: ”Bateau a vapeur sur le passage du Moerdijk.” – A steamboat on the Hollands Diep near Moerdijk. From “Voyage Pittoresque dans le Royaume des Pays-Bas”, by Mr. De Cloet, published in Bruxelles, 1825.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Jean Baptiste Madou (printed by Ambroise Jobard)’ after ‘Otto Baron de Howen’. Lithographer: Jean Baptiste Madou (1796-1877) originated from Brussels. He is considered to be one of the pioneers of lithography in Belgium. Ambroise Jobard (active around 1830) was a Belgian lithographer, active in Brussels and Amsterdam. Printer: Ambroise Jobard (active around 1830) was a Belgian lithographer, active in Brussels and Amsterdam. Artist: Otto Baron de Howen (1774-1848) was born in an influential Russian family. He joined the Russian army but fell out of grace with the court. In 1799 he came to the Netherlands to join the artillery of the Batavian Republic, where he rose to the rank of Luietenant-General. He sometimes used the name Ant(h)on.
Condition: Good, given age. Staining in margin, as visible on scan. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
