Subject: Antique print, titled: ‘Nieuwe Kaart van Spanje en Portugal’ – (‘New Map of Spain and Portugal’). This antique engraving is a map of the Iberian Peninsula, Spain and Portugal. Also shown are the northern edge of Africa and southern France, as well as Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza.
Condition: Very good, given age. Original folds, as issued. The margin edges faintly soiled. Faint offsetting from where the map was folded on itself. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Engraving on hand laid paper.

Description: From a volume of “Hedendaagsche Historie of Tegenwoordige Staat van Alle Volkeren” (Tirion, 1759). This volume deals with Spain and Portugal.
Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Jacob Keyser’ after own design. Jacob Keizer is a Dutch engraver and cartographer active in the first half of the 18th century. Little is known of his life; according to Waller (p. 173) he was active in Russia and Amsterdam, and later Almelo.
