‘ORE SED ANGELICO REFONANS TUBA QUARTA MALORUM (?)’

– This print shows a view on scenes from the revelation of John on Patmos (9,10,11,12). At the top left, two angels fly over a city. One of them blows a trumpet. At the top right the fifth angel blows trumpet. On the left below soldiers on fire-breathing horses with lion heads race by while angels with swords are ready to strike down men. Together, they exterminate a third of humanity. At the top, the sixth angel blows the trumpet. Next to the angel, God the Father sits on his throne next to the golden altar with four horns from which a voice comes that commands the four captive angels to be freed. In the lower right we see an angel with face like the sun and legs like pillars of fire. From a series of 24 engravings numbered in the corners.
