Plate page 32: This plate shows 2 engravings. above the Curia Hostilia, one of the original senate houses or ‘curia’ of the Roman Republic. Below the remains of the Temple of Bacchus / Dionysus in Rome. On both engravings allegorical scenes with cherubs. Text on both sides. This original old antique print / plate originates from: ‘Beschryving van Oud en Nieuw Rome. Verdeelt in drie Deelen. In ‘t Fransch beschreven door den Heer Francois Desseine. En in ‘t Nederduitsch vertaalt.’, by Francois Desseine and published by Francois Halma in 1704, first published in French in 1690. Copies of this work are rarely complete as the maps and engravings are of high quality matching the work of Piranesi. This plate by J. Goeree and J. van Vianen.Artists and Engravers: Publisher: Francois Halma (1653-1722). Engraved by Jan van Vianen (b. c. 1660) after Jan Goeree (1670-1731).

Condition: Good. General age related toning and soiling. Please study scan carefully.
