Biography engraver: Engraved by J. Scott after J. Barenger. John R. Scott (?-?, nineteenth century) was the son of the famous engraver John Scott, who was mainly known for his works featuring animals. James Barenger (1780-1831) was an English animal painter and illustrator. Although he started as a landscape painter, his attention soon turned to animal (and specifically horse) painting.
