Antique print, titled: ”Procession des disciplinans.” – This plat shows a procession of flaggelants followed by a bishop and a large group of priests. A church in the background, and a kneeling and praying audience. From: “Ceremonies et coutumes religieuses de tous les peuples du monde” by Bernard Picart, published by Jean Frederic Bernard. Amsterdam: 1723-1743.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Pieter Tanje’ after an anonymous artist. Pieter Tanje (1706-1761) was an 18th century Dutch engraver from the Northern Netherlands. He specialised in highly finished book illustrations. Cornelis Troost (1696-1750) was an 18th-century actor and painter from Amsterdam. He gave up his acting career for painting in 1723 when he became the pupil of Arnold Boonen.

Condition: Very good, given age. Original middle fold, as issued. Small tear in lower margin and 1 cm in print. A small stain in the middle of the image area. Margin edges with some creases. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
