BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Naauwkeurig verhaal van een reys door Portugiejsen uyt Indien gedaan na Soez, in de jaaren 1540 en 1541. Published in Leiden, 1706, by Pieter van der Aa.

Biography engraver: Jan Goeree (1670-1731) was a Dutch engraver, draughtsman, and author, mainly active in Amsterdam. He was a pupil of Gerard de Lairesse and created detailed historical engravings.

Biography artist: Publisher: Pieter van der Aa (1659-1733) was a Dutch publisher and bookseller based in Leiden. He specialized in geography and travel books, producing numerous atlases and city plans. He often republished earlier works, combining original material with reprints from other cartographers.
