BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Commissioned by the Vereeniging tot bevordering van Beeldende Kunsten, Netherlands, 1846.
Biography engraver: Johann Wilhelm Kaiser (1813-1900) was a Dutch engraver and director of the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam. Renowned for his technical skill and precision.
Biography artist: Nicolaas Pieneman (1809-1860) was a Dutch painter known for historical scenes and portraits. He was the son of Jan Willem Pieneman, also a well-known painter.
