Antique print, titled: ‘Jacobus Meierus.’ – A portrait of Jakob Meyer zum Hasen, the burgermeister of Basel. He was a money changer by profession, and the first mayor of Basel to be a tradesman, rather than an aristocrat or noble. He was known as the patron of Hans Holbein the Younger. Although dated 1790 below the image, we think this is a later 19th. C. printing.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘B. Hubner’ after ‘Hans Holbein’. Bartolomaus Hubner (German. 1727-1795). Hans Holbein (1497-1543).

Condition: Excellent, given age. Some soiling in the lower margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
